Inflation Relief Check in March 2023: States That Will Give Americans Money

AS and Marca said several states are disbursing tax refunds and inflation relief checks, with one of them having a maximum of $3,284 per individual.

South Carolina

In South Carolina, there is a tax credit of up to $800 that may be available to qualifying people. This “inflation relief check” or rebate may be used to offset their tax obligations.

New Mexico

Refunds of $500 for single filers and $1,000 for joint filers are still available to in-state residents. Residents have until May 2023 to submit their 2021 income tax return and be eligible for a refund or “inflation relief checks.”

Minnesota

Once 75 artists from St. Paul and Otter Tail County regions are included in the Springboard for the Arts pilot program, certain Minnesotan artists will receive a monthly payment or “inflation relief checks” of guaranteed income worth $500 over the course of the next 18 months.

Authorities will choose participants at random from a group of registered artists.

Massachusetts

A refund of around 14% of the amount of state taxes owed is available to taxpayers. Refunds were given in December to those who submitted their 2021 returns by October 17 of the previous year. Taxpayers who filed after September 15, 2023, and up to that date will get their refund one month after doing so. Here are further specifics to know more about this “inflation relief check.”

Maine

The Emergency Energy Relief Plan, which Governor Janet Mills of Maine signed into law in January, continues to assist citizens in Maine with the growing cost of electricity and inflation.

With over 880,000 people eligible for this program, the state has given out about 200,000 payments totaling $450 per week, but there is still more work to be done.

A person must have submitted their 2021 tax return and be a full-time resident of the state who wasn’t claimed as a dependent.

Idaho

As the Idaho Tax Commission is distributing 75,000 checks each week and anticipates handing out over 800,000 by the end of March, residents of Idaho may be qualified to receive a tax refund.

Couples filing jointly will earn $600, while single filers are entitled to $300 inflation stimulus check or tax refund.

Connecticut

Connecticut is still going forward with its proposal to provide monetary bonuses to employees who stayed on the job during the worst of the COVID-19 outbreak. Depending on their salary, these bonuses may range from $200 to $1,000.

A total of 120,000 people are receiving payments through direct deposit, 35,000 people are receiving them by paper check in the mail, and another 20,000 people are receiving payments via the state’s Premium Pay program.

Alaska

Alaska will continue to provide its Permanent Fund Dividend, which is a dividend paid to its citizens as a portion of the state’s oil income, starting in 2022.

Due to the addition of an energy relief payment, the cheque is worth $3,284.

But regrettably, households will be required to disclose this payment on their 2023 taxes.

In essence, tax refunds from some states represent an extension of inflation relief checks. A few states have sponsored laws to provide taxpayers with more money as an inflation relief measure. The majority of this money is obtained through state budget surpluses.

If you reside in one of these states and have not yet received your inflation relief checks, GoBankingRates (via Yahoo! Finance) suggests you may inquire about its whereabouts by contacting your state’s tax authority. Yet, it doesn’t seem like government stimulus money is now on the table as part of the fight against inflation.
