During tax season, many Americans cannot file electronically. The IRS will receive and process all 2022 fiscal year tax returns by April 18, thus the need for in-person assistance.
All taxpayers with extensions have until October 16 to file. The IRS wants to make sure every taxpayer meets their obligations over the next few months as tax season continues.
They are choosing dates to open Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) nationwide.
The IRS offers in-person assistance.
In-person assistance centers will be open nationwide from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 8 and May 13 for the IRS. These will be set up in offices in many states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
Saturday openings are part of the IRS’s efforts to help taxpayers. Some taxpayers can’t get their refunds electronically.
TACs are usually closed on Saturdays and require appointments to receive services from IRS employees. People can get all office services during these hours. These days will accept all but cash. Online accounts and Identity Protection PINs can be requested.
Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs) Requirement
A current government-issued photo ID is required. Social Security cards or Taxpayer Identification Numbers for household members is needed for in-person assistance.
Two IDs and the year’s tax return. Direct deposit payments or refunds require a current mailing address and bank account information. These TACs are open on Saturdays, March 11, April 8, and May 13, and have addresses.
