Donald Trump Indictment

A grand jury indicted the Former President Donal Trump on Thursday as a result of an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg‘s office into an alleged hush money payment of $130,000 made by the former president’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult film star Stormy Daniels in order to keep her quiet before the 2016 election about an alleged liaison she claims she had with Trump in 2006.

The former president has maintained his innocence in the case and denied having an affair with Daniels, accusing the prosecution of conducting a politically motivated witch hunt. However, prosecutors contend that the payment was illegal under campaign financing regulations. He has responded to the indictment by assaulting the district attorney’s office in a flurry of posts on his social media platform Truth Social.

On The Dean Obeidallah Show on Friday, Mary Trump discussed the potential state of mind of the former president Donald Trump indictment. Trump’s “defiance” on social media, according to her, is probably a ruse to conceal his real views regarding the indictment.

Answering criminal accusations in New York requires getting fingerprinted and photographed, answering inquiries about name and birthday, and being arraigned. Defendants are normally held for a total of at least several hours. There may be variations in the order in which the various phases are carried out, their duration, whether or not handcuffs are removed, and other specifics. The seriousness of the case and the defendants’ ability to arrange for their own surrender determine a number of things.

However, there is no set procedure for hiring a former president by the US. Defense by the Secret Service. Former presidents are expected to request security before agents are released from that duty. Because Trump has maintained his detail, agents would need to be around at all times.

When Trump brings himself in, anticipate a well-planned, swift procedure, release without bond (as is typical in New York), and a focus on security. Saland believes it is unlikely that a former president will be led in handcuffs through a busy courthouse hallway or across a walkway.
