A worker who was conversing on his cellphone was killed when a construction vehicle reversed over him, according to Fort Wayne police.

According to authorities, the incident happened just before noon at the Dreyer’s/Ice Edy’s Cream facility on Fort Wayne’s north side.

Police were informed by witnesses that a worker working at the construction site was talking on his phone and was therefore oblivious that a car was approaching.

The identity of the man was not immediately disclosed.

Police, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office were all looking into the event.
