When the Indiana man learned that he was the homicide suspect in his uncle’s death, he reportedly decided to offer “donate some of his frontal lobes” to him, according to police.

According to court documents, an Indiana man accused of killing his uncle claims that a brain implant “programmed” him to strike the victim ten times with a hammer. The homicide suspect also claimed he needed to shower after the alleged crime due to “artificial human matter” on him.

Daniel Smith, 39, is the homicide suspected in killing his uncle Freddie Patterson, 69, on the evening of February 16 at a residence in Greenfield, Indiana.

Based on an affidavit of probable cause by the outlet, Patterson’s half-sister reported finding Patterson’s face “all smashed in” and informing officers that there was flesh or other material on the floor after hearing loud banging in the house’s downstairs area.

She explained to officials that she was unable to “figure out what she was seeing,” adding that she believed she was “imagining it” and that what she was seeing “wasn’t real.”

According to the affidavit, when questioned by police following the alleged murder, Smith claimed that a brain implant “programmed” him to strike Patterson over ten times with a hammer. According to the document, homicide suspect claimed he needed to shower after killing his relative “because he didn’t feel clean” with “artificial human matter” on his body.

The homicide suspect said “sorry” when the police told him his uncle had died. Court records indicate that Smith “then offered to give some of his frontal lobes to [Patterson], but we told him it wouldn’t help him.”

Investigators also questioned Smith about his relationship with Patterson. Smith said that he respected his uncle for being in the military, but he “wasn’t sure” if the man he was accused of killing was really Patterson, according to police.

Homicide suspect said that the house he is said to have killed Patterson “was being used as a channel for trafficking and illegal products” by “Singapore and the Chinese mafia.”

The homicide suspect is being detained without bond at the Hancock County Jail.

Smith admitted to the authorities that while he admired Patterson, he didn’t agree with his “prior brushes with the law” and that he and Patterson didn’t always agree on certain topics. According to the affidavit, the suspect admitted that he once phoned the FBI to report Patterson but “wasn’t sure why” he did so.

The 39-year-old told detectives that Patterson “verbally abused him” in the home’s kitchen, but he couldn’t recall any specifics, only that he once looked to “see if [Patterson] had a mask on,” according to the document.

When speaking with investigators, Smith “spoke about random things, not really focusing on any one specific issue,” according to the police report.

Based on the police affidavit, Smith’s mother reported seeing something on her son’s hand when she passed him in the corridor, but she was unsure if it was “Jell-O or blood with fruit in it.” She also disclosed to officers that Smith and Patterson didn’t get along well.
