Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, performed a friendly tour of Sarasota on Wednesday at the campus of the College of Florida. While there, he met with students who were unhappy with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ conservative experimentation in higher learning.
Newsom responded, “I’m screaming outside from my skin for you. I would like you to realize you’re never alone. You have worth.”
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, gathered with 2 dozen New College students, teaching staff, and residents at the North Sarasota Public Library as an unexpected addition to a tour of Republican-controlled southern states. Newsom has been protesting against laws that, in his view, restrict individuals’ freedoms in such states.

While their terms as governors are restricted, both Newsom and DeSantis are thought to be considering a run for the presidency. Whereas Newsom has avoided and has stated that he favors President Joe Biden, DeSantis is believed to soon declare his bid for the presidency in 2024.
