A puppy stolen during a robbery in broad daylight in California has been returned to its owner, and the teen responsible for the violent assault and theft has been arrested, authorities said Friday.
Tips from the public poured in after authorities released surveillance video of a female suspect attacking a woman around 12:30 p.m. Monday in the 6600 block of Eastern Avenue in Bell Gardens and snatched the victim’s one-month-old Maltipoo, according to the Bell Gardens Police Department.
While police did not release the juvenile girl’s name or age, they did say the tips assisted investigators in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the suspect and victim squabbling before the suspect threw the woman to the ground. A bystander can be seen walking around the couple without stopping.

According to police, the suspect assaulted the victim and pepper sprayed her in the face before fleeing with the puppy.
According to Jesse Robles of FOX11 Los Angeles, his mother Rosa Muoz, who owns Planet Pet Shop, was the victim and suffered a broken hand as a result of the incident.
Robles stated that the puppy, named Baby Moon, was sick prior to the alleged dogknapping and had gone days without its special food and medication.
“It was really skinny, hanging on for dear life,” Robles said after the puppy was returned.
According to the station, police believe the woman seen casually walking past the fight in the video is also involved in the crime. There were no additional details available at the time.
