El Monte, California has launched a basic income program for low-income, single mothers who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.

$500 Monthly Payment
The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and will provide 125 eligible applicants with $500 per month for a year.
To qualify, applicants must be female heads of households with incomes below the national poverty line and at least one dependent aged 17 or younger, according to The U.S. Sun.
The application period began on March 27 and will close on April 15. Applicants must provide proof of income and a photo ID either by mail, online, or in person. The city has yet to announce when selected applicants will start receiving the funds.

Other Payments
In other payment news, Colorado’s Property Tax, Rent, Heat Rebate program will begin paying out up to $1,044 to eligible low-income seniors and disabled residents on April 5.
Alaska residents have until March 31 to apply for the state’s annual Permanent Fund Dividend, which redistributes a portion of the state’s energy revenues to full-year residents. The payout for this year is $3,284.
Lastly, SSI beneficiaries will receive their April payment early this year. As April 1 falls on a Saturday, payments will be distributed on March 31. Recipients will have to wait until May 1 for their next payment.
