A fugitive from Washington state was arrested in Arizona on Friday after authorities found him living in an RV.
Michael Barber, 58, is suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl at a park near her home in Spanaway, Washington, in 2021. He has been facing charges of first-degree rape and kidnapping, felony harassment, and second-degree child rape.

According to Fox News, Barber had been at the victim’s home looking for yard work earlier in the day. He allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone about the incident. He was identified from the home surveillance footage, and deputies attempted to arrest him. However, he refused to surrender, and an hours-long SWAT standoff ensued before his eventual arrest.
Barber was released on $250,000 bail before he became a fugitive. According to FOX13 Seattle, the Washington Fugitive Investigations (WFI) was looking for him after failing to appear in court. Barber was arrested without incident in Tucson by agents of WFI.
He was allegedly found living in the RV, which his wife provided, in Tucson, Arizona.
