A man was arrested Friday after allegedly ambushing and shooting two-on duty New Jersey State Troopers.
The incident occurred on Thursday as the two police drove unmarked vehicles along East 26th St and 9th Ave. The police were investigating an attempted break-in of a home on East 26th St and attempting to follow a vehicle believed to be involved in the case. Surveillance footage from a residential area showed a figure, later identified as Timmons, jump out from behind a parked vehicle and shoot opened fire on the police’s vehicles. Bullets hit both vehicles, and one of the police was shot in the leg.
Attorney General Platkin said on a news conference that the suspect had been arrested and identified as 28-year-old Jocquise R. Timmons. He was detained in South Carolina by U.S. Marshals.

Meanwhile, the injured State Trooper is expected to make a full recovery after he underwent surgery. The identity of the two police has not been released for safety reasons.
