Fayaz was shot in the head Saturday night when he and his brother-in-law went to buy a car that an officer had set up to buy through Facebook Marketplace. At the time, he wasn’t working. Officials say it was a failed robbery, and the supposed car salesman-turned-gunman was caught this week at a Days Inn 50 miles away in Rockland County. The suspect, a 38-year-old man from Manhattan named Randy Jones, was caught by an NYPD detective from the US Marshals Regional Task Force who used the dead officer’s handcuffs.
