The amount of Child Tax Credit has increased in 2021 or during the time of the pandemic. It aimed to help low-income and struggling families to meet their daily needs but the increased amount in Child Tax Credit has already expired last year.
In a published article in STUDENTLOAN.LIVE, eligible and qualified families received an amount of up to $3,600 for children under 6 years old while $3,000 for children aged 6 and 17. This payment was only given to low-income families.

Proposed Child Tax Credit in Illinois
State lawmakers across the country are now making different efforts to help their residents amidst the impending end of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits amidst the increasing inflation rate. It is to help American families combat their financial struggles.
According to a published article in Feeding Illinois, lawmakers in Springfield are proposing to make Child Tax Credit permanent to help working and low-income families in the state. Moreover, there are some changes in their proposed legislation.
If this legislation will be signed into state law, each eligible family will receive an amount of $700 if their child ages 17 and below. Additionally, those who earn less than $75,000 and less than $50,000 for single filers will also be qualified for the proposed Child Tax Credit.
