After no one took the top prize in Friday’s game, the Mega Millions jackpot increased to an expected $565 million, the lottery revealed on Saturday.
The sixth-largest reward in Mega Millions history will be awarded if someone hits all 6 numbers in the upcoming drawing on Tuesday, according to the lottery.
Based on a news release, the most recent Mega Millions jackpot was won on October 14 when two tickets bought in Florida and California combined for a $502 million reward.
The numbers chosen on Friday included the gold Mega Ball 8, as well as 15, 21, 32, 38, and 62. No one managed to match all 6 winning numbers, but 2 tickets bought in California and Illinois hit five of them and won the second-largest prize in the lottery, worth $1 million each, according to the lottery.
The lottery reported, an additional 31 tickets from across the nation obtained the $10,000 third-tier prize by matching 4 numbers and the Mega Ball.
The second-largest prize of the year—$1.337 billion—was won in July by a ticket purchased in Illinois. The greatest jackpot for Mega Millions was $1.537 billion, which was claimed in South Carolina in October 2018.
