What Will Be the Maximum SNAP EBT Benefit in 2023 for Food Stamps?

The new maximum payout for SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) beneficiaries is chosen annually by the American government using inflation data.

Every year on October 1st, the new Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA) take effect and are in force into the next year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service raised the allocations for the 48 states, Washington, D.C., Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for Financial Year 2023. To allow for inflation, caps, and resource limitations were also increased.

Low-income families who participate in SNAP receive monthly benefits which can be used to buy certain types of food. SNAP accounts, which are connected to EBT cards, are where benefits are deposited. Most food stores and authorized retailers accept SNAP EBT cards. Enter your PIN after swiping your card at the reader just like you would with a debit or credit card. You might also be able to use your EBT card to purchase groceries online at specific stores based on where you live.
