The Buzz Lightyear Movie: Release Date, Cast, and More - The Santa Clarita Valley Proclaimer The Buzz Lightyear Movie: Release Date, Cast, and More - The Santa Clarita Valley Proclaimer

Onward! 'Lightyear' will portray the space ranger differently than 'Toy Story.' HollywoodLife has the latest movie details.

Toy Story fans rejoice! Buzz Lightyear will get his own PG-rated movie outside of the main Toy Story series. Like the original movies, it’ll be produced by Pixar Studios and distributed by Disney.

Lightyear is expected to put a unique spin on everyone’s favorite space ranger, with more of an action-adventure tilt than the Toy Story films.

While some animated Disney films are going straight to Disney+, Pixar’s Lightyear is sure to be a blockbuster smash for the summer. It will be released in theaters on June 17, 2022.

While a number of animated Disney films hit the streaming platform exclusively, Lightyear is going to get its first release in theaters.

While fans may recognise Buzz, the cast is changed from the 1995 film. Chris Evans will voice Buzz Lightyear, but not as a toy.

Ames Brolin will play Emperor Zurg, Buzz's antagonist. Uzo Aduba plays Buzz's friend and commanding officer Alisha Hawthorne, while Keke Palmer is Izzy.

Jason Headley and Angus MacLane wrote the screenplay. Michael Giacchino, who scored The Incredibles and Ratatouille, composed the soundtrack. Greg Peltz directs. Paul Conrad, Matt Nolte, Garrett Taylor, and Bill Zahn are others.
