Vice President Kamala Harris Stand Against New Limits to Abortion Rights
Vice President Kamala Harris urged the people of the United States to take action at this moment in the history of the US where she considered it the “critical point of the nation.” The vice president stopped by the thousands of protesters during the Women’s March in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The nationwide rally that happened was the result of the court’s decision to interfere in the postponement of the rule changes that would result in the restriction of mifepristone as one of the leading drugs that are used in abortion. The restrictions on the said drug are temporary while the court reviews the case carefully.
The vice president speaks to the numerous demonstrators from the step of City Hall and said, “So this is a moment that history will show required each of us — based on our collective love of our country — to stand up, and fight for, and protect our ideals. That’s what this moment is. When you attack the rights of women in America, you are attacking America.”

Protesters expressed their anger at the steps of the nation’s high court. The Justice Department requested the high court to remove the restrictions imposed by an appellate court in Texas about the restriction for mifepristone. The decision of the court resulted in a time when the drug could not access by the one who needs it.
Pharmaceutical companies are one of the various critics of the Texas appellate court decisions. Food and Drug Administration believed that the court’s decision is a “dangerous intrusion” to the authority of the FDA, which regulates how medicines are used and sold in the United States.
Restrictions on the distribution and use of mifepristone will be a further blow to abortion rights advocates. The other drug, misoprostol, is the other alternative drug however, it is more effective if both drugs are used.
