The United States will be offering a $1,400 stimulus check this 2022 for those who were not able to claim their third stimulus check back in 2021. US President Joe Biden authorized this, as he signed the $1.9T American Rescue Plan, in March 2021.

In line with this, the third stimulus check found that eligible US taxpayers receive up to $1 400 each, specifically giving an additional $1 400 for each dependent in a household.

Following this, the US Government directed that the groups of people who will receive stimulus checks in 2022 include parents of newborns, foster, or adopted children (2021-2022). It also indicates that either a new dependent or a parent of a 2021-born child will receive the said government assistance, according to MARCA

Administration of Stimulus Checks

Each state in the US will receive a Federal budget for distribution to its stakeholders. Uniformly, each state has its own regulations on how the given funds will be administered, and this also includes the benefits that will be set.

Requirements to Claim $1,400 Stimulus Check

As mentioned earlier, the stimulus check will be given per dependent of a qualified household. These dependents must be aged below 19 at the end of 2022. However, this is an exception for students or for those who are permanently disabled. Moreover, a dependent must be a child, sibling, stepsibling, foster child, half-brother, half-sister, or a descendant of any of them.

Other dependents should also meet the income requirements to receive their stimulus checks. Taxpayers receive the full amount if they were earning an adjusted gross income of less than $75 000. Consequently, a full amount may also be obtained for those who earn $150 000 but are married and have filed jointly.

Qualified parents of newborns, foster, or adopted children may claim their stimulus checks once they have applied for a Recovery Rebate Credit in their 2021 tax return, which will be completed in 2022. Additionally, through the American Rescue Plan, those who are qualified for an additional payment may receive their credit as part of their 2021 refund.
