Santa Claus must have driven early to Maryland. At the Maryland school district, employees will receive a bonus payment worth $1,000 according to a published post by Washington Examiner,

The Arundel County public school employees will be given a bonus which is intended as an aid that has the full backing of the Board of Education. The cash may vary based on the worker’s full-time equivalency, and it will be sent to all of the regular employees except for those who are on leave by December 16, said the AACPS.

Dr. Mark Bedell, the superintendent of Schools, wrote a letter saying, “No school system can be great without great people”, and sent it to the AACPS staff. He added, “As I have said before, the work you are doing in the face of some stiff challenges is incredible. No matter your role in your school system, our students benefit every day from your dedication and passion. Please don’t ever forget that.”

Dr. Mark Bedell will not accept the intended bonus.

The employees are told about the healthcare premium holiday effective on December 28, this means that no healthcare premiums will be deducted from the employee’s paycheck on that very specific day.
