The Sheriff of Oklahoma claims it was unlawful to record killing talk

The deputy’s office in Oklahoma claims the newspaper’s audiotape, during which the deputy sheriff along with additional county leaders are allegedly caught talking about hanging Black people and murdering 2 journalists, is unlawful and expects the filing of criminal charges.

The sheriff’s office makes its first public statement after Sheriff Kevin Clardy and officials’ remarks were revealed by the McCurtain Gazette-News in a post on Facebook that refers to the matter as “complicated” as well as one that “we hate being forced to confront.”

Controversy and protests have been brought on by the authorities’ secured threats. Republican state representative Eddy Dempsey and Republican Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma have both requested Clardy and other officials to step down

Officials of the NAACP in Oklahoma also demanded that the FBI and Department of Justice look into the matter.
