In a video presentation during the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised guests and viewers that Ukraine will conquer Russia.
“The year is 2023. Although the fight in Ukraine is still ongoing, the tide is changing and it is already obvious who will win, “Zelenskyy added. “Although more struggles and heartbreak are ahead, I can now without a doubt tell you who was the best last year. You were the ones who joined together to assist the free Ukrainian people—the free people of the free globe.”
During his address, Zelenskyy also referred to the First and Second World Wars, but he claimed that “No third world war would ever occur. Not a trilogy, it is. The Russian assault on our country will end due to Ukraine.”
The video message from Zelenskyy was introduced on stage by award-winning actor and director Sean Penn, who also mentioned other continuing battles abroad, such as the Iranian rallies and the Afghan women’s rights movement. Penn had traveled to Kyiv in November to present his Oscar statuette to Ukraine as a “symbol of faith” in the middle of the ongoing war.
