Fox 17 previously reported that the department employed 60 sworn officers as of early this year after losing nearly 12% of its officers as a result of the scandal. An internal investigation conducted in the latter part of last year discovered that the officers’ antics occurred at their residences, in hotels, at parties, and in the department’s gym.
One incident allegedly took place at another officer’s home during a hot tub party with drinks, during which Hall apparently removed her top.
“Since our police chief position has been open, I’ve charged our HR department with locating a recruiting company to assist us with this countrywide search,” Mayor Jason Cole stated in a news statement provided to Fox News Digital.
The city announced that Ralph Andersen & Associates, a recruitment firm, had been hired to conduct the search.

Previous Police Boss Burrel “Chip” Davis was terminated in February after outsider examiners in the city decided he “knew about the sexual unfortunate behavior inside his area of expertise and never announced or restrained any of the officials in question.”
Maegan Hall, the only female officer to be fired as a result of the scandal, has since filed a lawsuit against Davis, the city, and the former Sgts. She claimed she was “groomed” for her encounters with male coworkers, Lewis Powell and Ty McGowan.
According to the lawsuit, “Where Ms. Hall sought role models at her new job, she instead found predators.” Her supervisors and the police chief groomed her for sexual exploitation rather than providing professional development.”
According to court records, Davis also joked about Hall’s encounters with male officers and received explicit photos of Hall on a burner phone he called “Ole Boy.”
On Monday, Mayor Cole told the media in the area that the city had chosen Ralph Andersen & Associates to lead the search for a new police chief and get the department moving again after the sex scandal.

WKRN reported that Cole stated, “[We wanted] fresh eyes to come in and really change the city, as far as the police department.” We want to enter there and attempt to advance and take the next step as a police department.”
Cole went on to say that the city needs to be transparent. The city will hold community meetings in April to get feedback from residents, and the recruitment company will also talk to current police officers and other city leaders for feedback.
Cole stated, “We want this to be a transparent and open process, so we believe that the more input we can get from our residents, staff, and leadership, the better.”
According to WKRN, Cole stated that the city hopes to have a new chief by the fall. After Davis was fired, Brent Hatcher, who previously held the position of deputy chief for the department, was appointed interim chief.
