Taxpayers To Get Face-To-Face Assistance On Saturday From IRS’s Taxpayer Assistance Centers

Filing tax is one of the most tedious tasks to complete. From knowing what to include and whatnot, a taxpayer must keep in mind hundreds of things. Apart, checking the details offered, letters, and claims are also crucial parts of the tax filing. To help the taxpayers, the IRS recently announced Assistance centers.

Taxpayer Assistance Centres to open in more than 30 cities across the country for walk-in appointments on March 12, the Saturday.

Taxpayer Assistance Centres are here to help

Taxpayers will be able to get assistance with any tax-related issues, such as reconciling advance Child Tax Credit payments or setting up direct deposit. The IRS stated that the centers would not accept cash payments or assist people in preparing their tax returns for filing. This will act as the support system to the tax filers and help them get the much-needed assistance to file taxes and claims properly.

Visit Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC) all prepared

According to the federal tax agency, people should bring a government-issued photo ID, social security cards for members of their household, and any IRS notices or other pertinent documents with them if they visit one of the TACs. To pay or receive direct deposits, taxpayers need to have their bank account information on hand.

Do not go to a TAC to prepare your filing return. The IRS stated that tax preparation is not a service provided by the agency, but taxpayers earning $73,000 or less in 2021 can receive free guided tax preparation from third parties through the IRS Free File link, as reported by Fox13News.

Whereabouts of the Taxpayer Assistance Centres

This is one of the initiatives that will help the locals a lot. The centers are open during the week and require an appointment. IRS decided to open them on the second Saturday of each month in March, April, and May. This decision is aimed to help alleviate the agency’s massive backlog of returns.

TAC will accept walk-in appointments at the centers, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In a statement, IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said, “The IRS continues to do everything we can to help people during this unprecedented period.”
