Individuals who meet the requirements may get free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing from volunteers who have received IRS certification.

Tax Season 2023: People May File Their Payments For Three, Thanks to VITA and TCE!
AARP said qualified people may get free basic paperworks via the IRS programs known as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly.
Over 50 years have passed since the VITA program started.
People who require assistance completing their own tax returns, such as those who earn $60,000 or less, those with impairments, and those with low English proficiency, may get free filing services at VITA locations.
Meanwhile, TCE provides free assistance, especially to people who are 60 years of age or older, and focuses on concerns regarding pensions and other topics relating to retirement that are important to senior citizens.

How IRS May Help
You might get free filing preparation assistance from the IRS if your adjusted gross income is $73,000 or less. Your adjusted gross income is your income less any payments you make for alimony, teacher fees, student loan interest, or retirement account contributions.
The IRS provides two free filing options. The first is by using software that IRS allowed, which will allow you fill out the forms and transmit your return to the IRS online. See which of the offerings appeals to you most by browsing them here. Some people can also complete your state tax return.
