Stimulus Check: Is It True That President Joe Biden Authorizes Another Round of Payments?

The American Rescue Plan established in March 2021 resulted in the third stimulus check, technically known as an economic impact payment. Those who qualified for compensation got up to $1,400, while married couples filing jointly received up to $2,800. The IRS said that it has paid over 171 million payments as of late July 2021.

Taxpayers have been warned about scammers when the stimulus checks were initially distributed. Many viewers have also written VERIFY to inquire about the possibility of the fourth round of stimulus payments.

Did President Joe Biden approve another round of stimulus checks?

On Facebook, a video purporting to show President Joe Biden released the latest round of stimulus checks has gone viral. “Some folks in the country will start seeing those direct deposits in their bank accounts this weekend,” Biden appears to remark in the video, “and payments to eligible Americans will continue for the following few weeks.”

A screenshot at the bottom of the video claims Biden is signing an executive order. The video was shared on the “Care First Homes” Facebook page, which has only 830 followers and has been seen over 45,000 times. President Joe Biden’s video is a hoax. According to WFAA, the fourth wave of stimulus payments will not be sent by the federal government.

President Joe Biden gave a speech at COP26, the United Nations climate change summit, in November 2021, which was incorporated into the video. The audio in the Facebook video is also out of sync with Biden’s lips, indicating that it was either digitally manipulated to sound like him or that someone is attempting a Biden mimic.

The Internal Revenue Service may have stated that all of the $1,400 stimulus checks approved through President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan have been distributed to eligible Americans, but that does not rule out the possibility that more of these government-issued stimulus payments will be distributed. The Recovery Rebate Credit, which is quite useful, is the key to getting these stimulus checks into one’s inbox.

Per National Interest, taxpayers should also keep an eye out for IRS Letter 6475, which will tell them if they owe the government additional money and if they may claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their tax return.
