The payment for South Carolina’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be distributed in two separate batches, depending on the last digit in your case number and when you first started receiving benefits.

SNAP is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture but is managed at the state level. The Department of Social Services (DSS) manages SNAP in South Carolina, depositing the monthly benefits onto eligible residents through their electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards. You can visit the DSS Benefits Portal to check if you are eligible to apply for SNAP benefits. You can submit your SNAP application in the portal or visit your local DSS office.

You can use the SNAP benefits to purchase fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, bread, cereals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and seeds. SNAP participants can sign up for an almost 50% discount on an Amazon Prime EBT subscription. Additionally, you can use your EBT cards to get discounts and services. EBT cards can be used for free or discounted admission to hundreds of zoos, aquariums, and museums around the country.

Additionally, you cannot use the EBT card to purchase hot meals since South Carolina does not participate in the Restaurant Meals Program.
