Multiple Gunmen Openfire

Police authorities responded after multiple gunmen opened fire outside a Philadelphia bar on Saturday night. It is estimated that around 40 shots were carried out by the assailants who immediately fled from the crime scene before the police authorities arrived.

Deputy Commissioner John Stanford noted with the number of shots fired and the number of persons injured, he thinks that what happened is a public safety threat. As of Sunday morning, the suspects remain at large and police authorities are still investigating the motive of the shooting incident.

ABC News reports, the shooting incident happened at around 10:30 in the evening as people gathered outside the bar. Stanford said that a group of persons was mingling outside the bar when the gunmen exited a black vehicle sitting in the middle of East Allegheny Avenue, near Kensington Avenue, and started shooting.

Motive of the Shooting Incident

Stanford said during an interview “At this point in time, it just looks like these individuals may have spotted someone they wanted to shoot at, exited the vehicle, and just began firing,” The Deputy Commissioner was also surprised by the shooting incident because the place has a heavy police presence.

Additionally, they are also looking at another angle because a narcotics task force was conducting an investigation a half-block from where the shooting incident happened.

Furthermore, they recovered 40 pieces of ballistic evidence and they are closely working already with the businesses in the area to gather video evidence through CCTV in the hopes to identify the gunmen.
