Thursday in Brooklyn, NYPD Officer Adeed Fayaz was laid to rest with a visitation and burial service. The 26-year-old was tragically shot over the weekend in East New York, Brooklyn, while off duty. Fayaz and his brother-in-law allegedly met with suspect Randy Jones to purchase a car Jones listed on Facebook Marketplace, according to the police.

Jones, 38, allegedly attempted to rob them with a firearm before shooting an officer in the head. Fayaz died of his injuries on Tuesday afternoon, a day after Jones was arrested at a motel in Rockland County. According to the police, Jones was apprehended using Fayaz’s handcuffs. He is currently charged with murder and attempted robbery. Fayaz, who spent five years with the department, leaving a wife and two young children.

Officer Adeed Fayaz said his final goodbyes to hundreds of his coworkers, family, and friends on Thursday, in a ceremony honoring a fallen hero. The officer is remembered as a devoted husband, parent, and member of society.

As Fayaz’s flag-draped coffin passed in front of the Makki Mosque in Midwood, thousands of police men gathered to see it in mourning. Fayaz was a young man who aspired to provide a good life for his family and was the epitome of the American dream. Fayaz, according to the police commissioner, was a diligent officer who was in line for a promotion. However, on Saturday night, Fayaz went automobile shopping in East New York with his brother-in-law while off-duty. Fayaz entered a trap and was fatally shot during an attempted robbery. A suspect was later detained by police. Nader Ahmed, a friend, stated, “He had to, you know, fight for his brother’s life and also defend his own.” His high school buddy claimed to have spoken with Fayaz hours prior to the attack.

At the burial service for deceased NYPD Officer Adeed Fayaz held on Thursday at the Makki Masjid on Coney Island Avenue in Flatbush, prayers and tributes were presented. A sea of blue was generated outside by hundreds of NYPD policemen. Fayaz was a member of the large Pakistani community in Brooklyn, who had assembled inside the mosque. Fayad’s family debated interring him in his native Pakistan, but ultimately decided to bury him in Long Island’s Pine Lawn Cemetery. Jones is currently being held without bail.
