Due to a recent ProPublica investigation, a Republican megadonor has been paying for Associate Justice Clarence Thomas’ luxurious trips in secret.
Yet Texas billionaire Harlan Crow’s kindness reaches far beyond his top conservative judicial companions’ boat outings and resort visits. Thousands of dollars in donations to congressional Democrats who are famous for rejecting their party are also included.
The campaign account of former Democratic senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona has received a net donation of $5,800 from Crow. In addition, $5,000 was provided to the leader PAC to get something done in May 2022.
Crow made two contributions to Sinema’s campaign: the 1st was $2,900 in June 2021 and the second was $5,800 in November 2021, which forced the initiative to return half of it because Crow reportedly went over the federal contribution limits.
Crow gave Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a liberal who has rejected some of President Joe Biden’s appointments but has left the door open to challenging Biden for the presidency in 2024, $2,800 in March 2021.
