A little over a week after his wife is alleged to have discovered the concealed camera and turned it over to police, along with a linked hard drive, Ryan Rovito, 34, of Redding, some 160 miles north of Sacramento, was taken into custody on a warrant on Thursday. Upon performing a forensic investigation on the devices, authorities allegedly found the child pornography and child sex abuse photographs and other movies from the camera, according to Redding police.
Rovito is said to have “confessed knowing of the camera but pledged to remove and delete it,” according to police, when his wife discovered it on March 8.

The gadgets were then turned over to authorities by Rovito’s wife, who reportedly was worried that her husband had secretly recorded their small children using the restroom. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, pulled over Rovito on Thursday in Redding during a traffic check near Buenaventura Boulevard and Placer Street, and took him into custody after doing the analysis that produced hundreds of images and videos of child sex assault.
According to authorities, he was arrested and sent to the Shasta County Prison on suspicion of having child pornography in his possession as well as secretly filming an identifying person while they were nude.
His identity was removed from the jail’s online inmate list early on Sunday morning.

A text message sent to a phone number published under Rovito’s name on Sunday elicited no instant response. It was unclear at first if he has a lawyer who can represent him.
According to court documents, on Friday, the day after he was arrested, Rovito’s wife asked for and was given a temporary restraining order against him. According to court records, the case is categorized as “domestic violence prevention with minor children,” and the next court session is scheduled for April 7.
