Receive Up to $1000 via Inflation Rate Checks

Inflation in the U.S. fell to 6.5 percent at the end of December last year, down from 7.1 percent in November. Several states will continue to send inflation relief checks, or tax refunds, in January 2023 and beyond. Check which states are sending them and what the amounts are.

The mailing of the Middle-Class Tax Refund of up to $1,050 to California residents will resume in January 2023. Payments will began mailing by October and will continue through January of this year (Gonzales, 2023).

Hawaii residents who earned less than $100,000 in 2021 should receive a one-time tax refund of $300. Meanwhile, up to $750 will be paid by January 31 this year to Colorado taxpayers who asked for an extension to file their 2021 tax returns, which were due on October 17. Individuals and couples earning more than $200,000 qualify for a payment of $100.

In November, the citizens of Massachusetts will begin receiving refunds of around 14% of their state tax due. Those who filed their 2021 tax returns by October 17 of last year received their refund in December. Meanwhile, residents of New Mexico can still receive a $500 refund for single filers and a $1,000 refund for joint filers.

Taxpayers in South Carolina who filed their property tax return by October 17, 2022, should have received their refund by the end of 2022. In New Jersey, property tax refunds will be given to approximately 2 million New Jersey residents as part of a $2 billion property tax relief initiative. The application deadline is January 31, 2023, with refunds due by May 20, 2023.
