Millions of Americans could see a tax rebate worth up to $8,000 for switching appliances in their home. The money is meant to aid Americans in replacing their outdated appliances with more energy-efficient models. The Inflation Reduction Act aims to provide lower energy costs by allowing consumers to claim credits each year if new products are purchased.

Energy-efficient switches can win each residence $4,000, and multifamily complexes may be eligible for up to $400,000 in funding. If your income is between 80 and 150 percent of the local median income or less, you are eligible.

If you reduce your energy use by 20 percent, you’re eligible for $2,000; if you reduce it by 35 percent or more, you’ll earn $4,000. There’s a cap of $14,000 per household for the rebates, with panel and service upgrades included.

For 2023, households can grab tax credits that cover up to 30 percent of the costs of installing rooftop solar. Similarly, people who switch to electric dryers, stoves, and insulation may be eligible. This credit is valid for both independent battery storage installed without solar and solar systems that are coupled with battery storage.
