The incident took place at around 10:30 p.m. on FM 1960 near I-45

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was driving a Kia Optima with her two children on board when the accident occurred. The man, who was hit by the car, reportedly crossed the road in front of the driver, but not at a crosswalk.

Deputies who arrived at the scene performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived. He was then transported to Northwest Houston Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The man’s identity has not been released yet, pending notification of his family.

The driver of the Kia Optima stayed at the scene and was found to be unimpaired. She is cooperating with the investigation, as per the sheriff’s office. The authorities have not disclosed whether any charges have been filed against the driver.

The accident caused a partial closure of FM 1960 for several hours, leading to traffic congestion in the area

The incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

This is a tragic reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety, particularly while crossing the road. Pedestrians should always use designated crosswalks and look both ways before crossing. Drivers, too, should exercise caution, especially when driving through busy intersections or areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.

By following these simple guidelines, we can all work together to prevent such accidents from happening.
