Images of the notes, which investigators allegedly discovered at nurse Lucy Letby’s house and featured statements like “I killed them” and “I am evil,” have been made public.

Officers discovered the handwritten letters when authorities arrested Letby on July 3, 2018.

The 33-year-old is on trial for allegedly killing seven newborns at the Countess of Chester Hospital and trying to kill ten more.

BBC News reported that Lucy Letby had refuted every accusation.

Letby is accused of a total of 22 offenses stemming from tragic and almost fatal occurrences that occurred in 2015 and 2016.

Lucy Letby Letters: What The Handwritten Diary Contained

Prosecutor Philip Astbury said in The Independent report that investigators found rhree handwritten letters in one of Lucy Letby’s purse.

Letby allegedly loaded the pages with tightly written lines, including confessions of love for a coworker who officials cannot name for legal reasons. He had the words “I loved you” and “my best friend” beside his name.

The messages also included “Help Me”, “I Can’t Do This Any More” and “How Can Life Be This Way.”

Officers also found a 2016 diary in a chest of drawers, the jury was informed.

When two twin boys were born on April 8—the day Letby is accused by the Crown of attempting to murder—a reference to “twins” was noted. A letter with the words “twin resus” was written on April 9.

The Crown claims that other entries on June 23, 24, and 25 included beginning letters relating to three more newborns, including two triplet boys, who Lucy Letby is accused of attacking on those days.

A green Post-it note, shown to jurors at the opening of Letby’s trial, according to Astbury, was discovered within the journal.

According to a section of the message, Lucy Letby wrote that she didn’t deserve to live. She said she “killed them” on purpose as she “is not good enough to care for them.” In big letters, she added, “I am a horrible, evil person,” and “I did this.”

How the Children Died

People Magazine reported that the newborns died after receiving too much milk, air, insulin, or liquid. Two infants from a pair of triplets, Child P and Child O, were among the dead.

According to court evidence, Child O had “acute deterioration,” the BBC said, and Letby reportedly enquired of the physician if the infant was “leaving alive.”

A triplet named Child H is said to have been fed too much air and clear liquid, jeopardizing its life. According to the BBC, Letby reportedly attempted two attempts to kill the preterm newborn, after which the child was taken from the hospital. The infant subsequently made a “rapid recovery,” the BBC stated.

Some of the slain kids, according to the prosecution, suffered repeated attacks before passing away.
