The 18th of April is the deadline for filing the 2022 state taxes for Minnesota residents. But, the schedule for the tax refund is still uncertain as the Minnesota Department of Revenue does not give a specific timeline for refund processing.

The department has not issued the duration of processing the tax refund. The length of processing the tax refund will vary depending on the following factors:

  • Method of filing the return – electronically or by mailing a paper form
  • The option selected on receiving the refund – direct deposit or paper check
  • Other factors, such as errors during filing and an amended tax return.

In case of an amended tax return, taxpayers must file Form M1X via U.S. mail within 3.5 years of the original return’s date. Errors in the provided information can cause delays as the department needs to review the return further.

GOBankingRates advise taxpayers to provide accurate information, file the return electronically and opt for direct deposit for faster processing of their tax return and tax refund.
