Man convicted to 52 months in jail after firing a fire extinguisher at cops on January 6

Following the assault on the Capitol on January 6, a Pennsylvania guy has thrown a fire extinguisher at cops. He was given a punishment of over 4 years in jail on Tuesday.

Robert Sanford, 57, was given a 52-month prison term and 36 months of court supervision. He admitted guilt in September to using a deadly tool to harm officers on January 6.

The Justice Department claims that former firefighter Sanford threw a fire extinguisher at many Capitol Cops, striking 3 of them in the head, while he was on the Lower West Terrace on Capitol grounds the same day. In addition, he shouted at the police and smashed a traffic cone in their direction.

About a week following the Capitol assaults, on January 14, 2021, Sanford was caught after turning himself in to the authorities.

Sanford was initially targeted by federal prosecutors who requested a jail term of up to 71 months, or nearly 5 years.
