The United States is keeping eye on Iran’s regime’s warlike declarations that it has sent 2 naval ships to Brazil and that they are on their way to the Panama Canal, where Tehran has said it will put troops.
On Tuesday, a representative of the U.S. Department of State said, “These statements by the Iranian navy are known to us. We are still keeping an eye on Iran’s efforts to establish a military base in the Western Hemisphere.”
The Navy second-in-command claimed that Iran’s 86th flotilla warships are now sailing around the western beaches of Latin America on Saturday, according to the Iranian regime-controlled news source Tehran Times.
A Western security source informed Fox News Digital on Tuesday that Iranian vessels have not yet been allowed to land in Brazil.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said in a statement to Fox News Digital that “Iran’s expanding influence in the Western Hemisphere shouldn’t act as a surprise because the Biden Administration has a track record of supporting authoritarian regimes and accommodating them. Tehran’s capacity to increase its military influence in our hemisphere must be taken as a red flag, especially given that it wants to back left-wing Marxist governments that will risk regional peace and stability.”
