Two teens allegedly murdered a 66-year-old Spanish teacher in Chautauqua Park over a bad grade.

One of the two Iowa teens, Jeremy Goodale, has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors over the 2021 fatal beating of their Spanish teacher. Goodale is expected to testify against his former friend Willard Miller. However, Des Moines Register clarified that the arrangements might be a part of a plea deal.

Nohema Graber, a Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School since 2012, was allegedly beaten to death by two Iowa teens.

During a hearing, Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding, Miller’s lawyer, disclosed that evidence against the two teens should be suppressed as their constitutional rights had been violated. He said Goodale had turned state’s evidence and has been listed as a main witness against Miller. He asserts that Miller’s lawyer should stop asserting on Goodale’s behalf.

The pair, who was 16 then, is accused of ambushing and killing Nohema Graber, a Fairfield High School Spanish teacher, in Chautauqua Park on November 2, 2021. Graber had taught at the school since 2012. Both classmates, now 17, are being tried as adults for their charges of first-degree murder.

Allegedly, the teens dragged Graber’s body into the woods and beat her with a baseball bat leading to death. Her body was found the next day under a tarp, railroad ties, and a wheelbarrow.

The hearing on Wednesday was on Miller’s plea to suppress interviews regarding the evidence the two teenagers given to prosecutors. Miller also has a similar appeal before the Iowa Supreme Court in denying a previous decision to suppress evidence.

Miller is scheduled for trial on April 21 in Pottawattamie County, while Goodale is set in May.
