In a classified papers investigation, hundreds of Mar-a-Lago employees, including servers and helpers, are sued

A federal grand jury is looking into how the former president handled sensitive papers. At least 2 dozen people, including Mar-a-Lago employees and officials of Donald Trump’s inner circle, have been asked to appear, according to authorities involved with the case.

Margo Martin, Trump’s communications assistant, went with the grand jury in Washington, DC on Thursday after working in the White House before moving with Trump to Florida. The interview included one of the top special counsel Jack Smith’s investigators.

When reached by a CNN reporter, Martin, one of a limited few former White House officials who have continued working for Trump since he left office, refused to comment.

According to sources, Smith has reportedly asked several individuals close to Trump for testimony, particularly his lawyers representing him in the case and Mar-a-Lago personnel including a maid and waiter.

Investigators are interested in the staff members because of possible observations or sounds they may have made while performing their tasks on the estate, such as whether they observed any boxes or papers in Trump’s office or anywhere else.
