Dawn Gonzalez had planned to bring in the new year with her closest friends, but she was unable to do so. “I’m still shocked. I haven’t had time to cry yet, “added Gonzalez. In a current interview with ABC13, Gonzalez discussed the tragic deaths of Ann Barrett and her husband Sedrick.
Since Sunday, March 27, every holiday including New Year’s Eve has changed. Gonzalez, the Barretts, and several other best friends were walking the street that day after finishing dinner at a steakhouse when a car rushed through Westheimer near Greenridge.
Gonzalez, who was a couple of steps behind the Barretts when they were struck, witnessed the entire incident. “I was shocked when I witnessed it, but I was unable to reach my friend since more traffic was still moving. Additionally, some individuals photographed her and shared them on social media,” she stated.
Donovan Donte Harris, the suspected driver, is currently facing two counts of drunk manslaughter.
Sean Teare, the director of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office’s Vehicular Crimes Division, expressed regret about having to file a large number of these charges.
