NBC News, citing police reports, said the victim had both a Firearm Owners Identification Card and a Concealed Carry License.

Officials, Fox News said, mentioned that the 33-year-old suspect drew his own weapon and attempted to rob a 25-year-old male victim, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

The victim was not hurt, police said (per CBS News).

Police also mentioned that the would-be thief was wounded in the leg and was brought in fair condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Charges were still pending as of late Friday when he was also brought into police custody.

According to the Chicago Transit Authority, the Green Line between Harlem and Ashland was temporarily suspended as police conducted their investigation. By 7:15 o’clock the service was back to normal.

String of Violent Events

This shooting is the most recent of several violent events that have recently taken place on CTA trains and buses, Newsbreak said. The CTA has tightened security on the Green Line in reaction to the incident.

The CTA also urged passengers to exercise caution and notify the authorities of any suspicious behavior. Additionally, they have requested anyone with knowledge to come forward and get in touch with the police.

Many passengers and members of the community have called for the implementation of stronger security measures as a result of the event, which has prompted worries about safety on the CTA.

According to the CTA, they are committed to giving its customers a safe and dependable level of service, and they are collaborating with the Chicago Police Department to improve patrols on public transit.
