According to Governor- Gavin Newsom has declared, California has restored all of the employment/jobs lost as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and has even gained tens of thousands of jobs over pre-pandemic levels.
According to the governor’s office, California added 56,000 jobs in October, making it 13 months in succession that the state has seen job growth. The state has already lost 2,758,900 jobs since the pandemic started in February 2020, or 101.1% of those jobs.
In a written statement, Governor- Newsom added, “We realize this isn’t the finish line.” In order to help develop thousands of jobs and opportunities for Californians around the state, “millions of Californians are already receiving the greatest tax refund in history. We are also making extraordinary investments in our small businesses.”
According to the governor’s office, the sectors with the greatest job growth were entertainment and hospitality, professional and corporate services, and health and education services. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, California’s unemployment/jobless rate increased from 0.2% to 4.0% in October.
