Murrieta, who served as executive producer and writer for the first three of the show’s four seasons.

Murrieta revealed that he wished he could have explored a potential relationship between Alex Russo (played by Selena Gomez) and Stevie Nichols (played by Hayley Kiyoko).

Stevie appeared in season three as an edgy teenage wizard who instantly bonded with Alex over their similar personalities and became close friends. Murrieta revealed that making Alex and Stevie more than friends would have been an interesting subplot, and Stone and DeLuise agreed with him.

Murrieta revealed that he had other plans for the series finale.

He wanted to show Alex becoming more “selfless” and giving up her wizard powers for love. Murrieta also pitched an idea for a reboot, which would follow the new generation of Russos, who is married to a werewolf and a vampire, respectively.

Overall, “Wizards of Waverly Place” aired on the Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012, and it followed the lives of the Russo siblings who were part wizards and part human. While Murrieta’s potential storyline may have never made it to air, his ideas for the series finale and a potential reboot are still intriguing to fans.
