Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo slammed Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg for attempting to bring charges against Donald Trump, saying it’s just a political motive.
In an interview with WABC Radio, the former Democratic governor of New York voiced his perplexity about why Bragg emphasized the case.
Andrew Cuomo said that he thought the general public was “cynical” and that prosecuting these political matters “affirms everyone’s skepticism.”
Ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Slams Manhattan DA Over Trump Case
Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo claims that the Manhattan DA’s action regarding the former president’s case just helps to fuel the nation’s rage, cynicism, and polarization.
“It’s a coincidence that Bragg goes after Trump and Tish James go after Trump and Georgia go after Trump,” Cuomo said per The New York Post report.
Andrew Cuomo alluded to James’ investigation into the Trump Organization and the Fulton County District Attorney’s inquiry into Trump’s attempts to rig the 2020 election.
The former governor, who resigned in disgrace after receiving 12 allegations of sexual misconduct, predicted that the former US president would be charged by Bragg’s office the following week. Cuomo has persistently refuted every accusation levelled against him.
Andrew Cuomo also mentions the old saying that district attorneys can “indict a ham sandwich” if they want to and says he does expect an indictment will be brought down next week despite the remarks regarding Bragg’s motive.

Bragg’s Case
A Fox News report mentioned that Republicans have openly blasted Bragg for trying to charge Trump for the alleged “hush money” payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2016, a case that many legal experts have said is politically motivated and without any real legal merit.
The indictment might “erode faith in the evenhanded administration of justice and unavoidably intervene in the outcome of the 2024 presidential election,” top House Republicans have said in a letter requesting that Bragg appear before Congress about it and give over information relating to the investigation.
In a combative response to that letter, Bragg’s office said that “we will not be intimidated by efforts to subvert the judicial process or allow unsubstantiated charges stop us from properly enforcing the law.”
Republicans received a letter from Bragg in which he referred to their investigation as “an unconstitutional intrusion into New York’s sovereignty.”
On Saturday, Republicans responded to that letter with a second letter, claiming that their actions were driven by legislative goals and noting that Bragg had not refuted their claims that the case was politically motivated.
