A representative for the 3rd term Texas governor said Nexstar Sunday that the ‘Greg Abbott Presidential Campaign’ federal campaign group that was registered on Saturday wasn’t registered on his behalf.
On Saturday—April Fools’ Day—the campaign committee was registered with the Federal Election Commission.
It hadn’t been registered by Abbott’s campaign, the governor’s communications director Renae Eze texted Nexstar to verify. Eze texted Nexstar, while requested to verify or reject the authenticity of the campaign committee, “That’s not us.”
The real identity of the applicant for the campaign committee is shown as “Greg Wayne Abbott” in the registration. Gregory Wayne Abbott is the real identity of the governor of Texas. It’s important to remember that Abbott ran against Rick Perry in the previous primary election for governor in 2022. But this Rick Perry wasn’t the same Rick Perry who served as governor of Texas before Abbott.
The filing from this past Saturday names John Grayson Dyer as the campaign’s recordkeeper and accountant. Nexstar was unable to locate anyone with this identity who was associated with Gov. Abbott’s office or campaign. While questioned if any existed, Abbott’s chief strategist David Carney responded in a mail to Nexstar that he had “never aware of the person.”
