Following the Report, Fauci Comments on COVID Lab Leak Theory

Since research showed that the COVID-19 virus was released from a Chinese facility, Dr. Anthony Fauci asked people to have an open mind about the virus’s origins.

The COVID-19 virus first originated in Wuhan, China, in 2019, and the origin of the virus has created a global discussion. Opposing parties argue whether the virus was accidentally released from a lab or if it’s a naturally existing virus. Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that the virus has killed over 6 million people while infecting over 674 million others globally.

Once the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published a report stating that COVID-19 originated from a lab leak in China, Fauci made his remarks. On the COVID-19 origin theories, the report placed the DOE in agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), yet not all U.S. government agencies accept.

The alternate theory claims that the virus crossed species when a person had contact with an animal that had the infection.

Fauci, who walked down as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the end of the previous year, advised people not to make quick conclusions in a video interview with The Boston Globe. He claimed he hadn’t seen the data used to create the DOE study and that it was prepared with “poor confidence.”
