Following the death of her daughter in childbirth, Detroit’s grandmother is left to look after 12 kids

Every time Patricia Pouncey considers the awful death of her daughter Nikita Washington in December of last year, she becomes lifeless.

Washington, a Black mother from Detroit who had undergone a cesarean section to deliver her 12th kid, a boy called Nathaniel, passed away at Harper University Hospital the following day.

Pouncey, who is currently caring for Nathaniel and her daughter’s 11 additional children, claims that the uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of her passing has caused her loss even more painful.

Pouncey stated, “I only have plenty of questions at the moment. “I constantly ask myself, ‘What gone wrong?'”

Pouncey claims that since her daughter’s husband is in prison, she was forced to remain at home and take care of her other grandkids while her daughter gave delivery alone.

Pouncey said she already blames not going to the hospital with her child.
