Washington Examiner said Social Security Administration usually mails one Social Security Supplemental Income 2023 payment on the first of each month. The administration instead sends the cheque on the final working day of the previous month if the first falls on a weekend or holiday.

This implies that occasionally the administration will make two payments in a single month but none the next month. Additionally, it guarantees that beneficiaries continue to get 12 payments year.

Double $1,828 Social Security Supplemental Income Increase 2023: Americans to Receive Twin Payouts

Given that recipients are expected to earn $914 on March 1 and March 31, The Sun said the twin Social Security Supplemental Income 2023 payments will be worth $1,828.

The payment for April is really included in the second check. But because the first occurs on a Saturday, the money is being distributed on March 1 instead.

Two checks will be sent in June, September, and December as well due to weekends and holidays.

The Sun added that 33 states are also disbursing their own additional payments.

For instance, New York provides an additional $87 for people and $104 for couples per month, while in Alabama, couples might receive an additional $120.

The double payment is designed to help offset the rising cost of living that many SSI recipients face. This includes increased expenses for food, housing, healthcare, and other basic necessities.

CNBC said the Social Security Administration estimates that the 2023 cost-of-living adjustment will be around 8.7 percent, which is one of the largest increases in recent years.

Who is Eligible?

NCOA said an individual must meet certain criteria to be eligible for Social Security Supplemental Income 2023 benefits. This includes being disabled, blind, or over the age of 65 and having limited income and resources. The specific income and resource limits can vary depending on the state in which the individual lives.

While this payment is certainly helpful in providing additional financial support to those who need it, it is important to remember that it is not a permanent solution to ongoing financial challenges. As such, it is important for those who receive SSI benefits to continue seeking out additional support and resources as needed.
