Dog Attack California: Pack of Dogs Maul Man to Death

Officials said that a Southern California man recently died due to a dog attack.

A residence that had been turned into a business in Jurupa Valley, east of Los Angeles, was the location of a 911 call reporting someone screaming at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Department of Animal Services and The Associated Press.

Dog Attack in California: 4 Dogs Maul Man to Death

Mateo Salvador, a 42-year-old resident of Riverside, was assaulted while working at a residence-turned-business at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday. A neighbor called 911 after hearing Salvador screaming, 

When authorities finally came, they discovered the victim had severe wounds. Three Belgian Malinois and one Cane Corso were the dogs. 

Salvador was rushed right immediately to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died at 8:15 in the morning. 

Salvador has performed his job at the house in the past without issue. Within hours, the owner went home and gave the dogs to animal control officials.

John Welsh, a Riverside County Animal Services spokesperson, told Fox News (via MSN News) that the canines were detained and subsequently put to death humanely the same day. 

The dogs had no registration papers, ABC10 added.

In terms of the number of fatalities and injuries brought on by ferocious dog attacks, our state comes in second in the nation. There are around 4.5 million dog assaults every year nationally. 

Also, according to the Insurance Information Institute, home insurance plans in the United States paid out $854 million in liability claims in 2020 to victims of dog attacks.
