A law that would prohibit food stamp beneficiaries from using benefits to purchase fresh meat, butter, flour, white rice, white bread, sliced cheese, cooking oil, herbs, spices, and coffee has been introduced by Republican lawmakers in Iowa. The lawmakers like to free up money for other purposes except helping families buy food. The budget deficit for New York State is expected to be huge.
