Former President Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) both had second thoughts about becoming each other’s running mates in 2024.

The two Republicans discussed the potential of teaming together to seek the GOP nomination on separate occasions this week. Yet they both rejected the notion.

DeSantis has not officially declared his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, but he is the only major challenger to Trump in the polls, and it is predicted that he will do so soon.

Trump has turned his back on his aspirations in light of the governor’s growing power in Republican politics.

‘Executive guy’ DeSantis Does Not Want Trump To Be His Running Mate in 2024

In answer to a query about whether or not he would join a prospective ticket as former President Trump’s running mate in 2024, DeSantis said on Thursday that he is “more of an executive guy.”

“I think that you want to be able to do things; that’s part of the reason I got into this job is because we have action,” he told Newsmax (via Fox News).

The candidate was also questioned about whether he wanted Trump to be the Republican nominee’s running mate.

The Florida governor’s remarks came amid rumors that he may be considering running for office. On a recent trip to Iowa, the governor attacked both President Trump and Vice President Biden.

In recent weeks, the former president and his son have intensified their attacks on “Ron DeSanctimonious,” with the governor returning fire.

The former president said earlier last month that he “probably” regrets sponsoring the Florida politician for his first race for governor in 2018. Trump had previously praised DeSantis.

Trump Dismisses DeSantis as Potential Running Mate

Meanwhile, Trump said in a TownHall report that it is “very unlikely” that he would choose the governor of Florida to be his running mate in 2024.

He said that the Republican Party is home to many admirable individuals. While some individuals sometimes bring up DeSantis as a potential running mate, Trump said he had never given it any attention.

The Florida governor’s reputation was once again attributed to Trump, who said he was the one who helped the governor win the election.
